Rai Cinema, together with the National Museum of Cinema, Spazio Koch and Cubia will present “Cabiria Experience” at the Massimo Cinema during the 76th edition of the international Prix Italia Festival (Turin, 1-4 October 2024).
An immersive project, aimed to reach young people and get them closer to Giovanni Pastrone's masterpiece (1914), which is still a great cinematic experience after 110 years. It was recently presented to the press at the 77th Cannes Film Festival by Rai Cinema CEO Paolo Del Brocco, and Carlo Rodomonti, Head of Strategic and Digital Marketing.

The public will have the chance to watch the original restored version of Cabiria for free, at the Massimo Cinema in Turin.
Restored in recent years, the first blockbuster of Italian silent cinema was presented as a world premiere at the Teatro Regio (Royal Theatre) in the pre-opening of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics and then officially screened the same year at the Cannes Film Festival in the presence of Martin Scorsese.
Back in 1914, Italian poet and writer Gabriele D'Annunzio wrote the film captions, while the music was performed live, written by music composer Ildebrando Pizzetti (who later won the Prix Italia in 1950 with Iphigenia).

Cabiria Experience is a multiplatform project based on virtual reality, artificial intelligence, the Metaverse and the work of Unreal Engine, a powerful 3D graphics engine developed by Epic Games for the creation of video games like Fortnite.
Through the combination of such advanced technologies, an immersive short film and a linear short film were created starting from the first two chapters of the original work. The VR short will be screened at the National Museum of Cinema and will be available on the Rai Cinema Channel VR App (through VR viewers), while the linear short will be available on RaiPlay.

It will be a lot of fun for sure, a Prix Italia event open to the public and not to be missed!
