Lab Orquesta – Música artificial para humanos (Lab Orquesta – Artificial Music for Humans)

Direction, Content Manager: Juan Manuel Cuéllar. Designers: Joel Filipe, Bárbara López, Boris Guzmáns. Producing Organisations: Lab.RTVE, RTVE Orchestra and Choir..

Lab Orquesta – Artificial Music for Humans is a transmedia project that narrates the fascinating process of creating a piece of music with artificial intelligence, from the initial seeding to its performance at a concert. On the evening of 17 November, musicians and spectators experienced from the seats of the Teatro Monumental in Madrid an unprecedented moment for classical music in Spain. For the first time a symphony orchestra, the Orquesta y Coro of RTVE, performed before an audience a work composed entirely by an artificial intelligence. The piece was secretly included in the programme. The event was the final step of Lab Orquesta, an experimental project developed by the Laboratorio de Innovación Audiovisual of RTVE in collaboration with the Orquesta y Coro of RTVE. The format chosen to tell this story is also innovative: it is a documentary for TikTok, consisting of six chapters that have been published periodically since February on the Lab's Instagram and TikTok accounts.

Presented by: Isabella Rocafull Fernández, Journalist and social media creator

Isabella Rocafull currently works as a journalist in the Innovation Laboratory of RTVE creating different projects such as web docs, interactive features, social media game filters, and more. Originally from Venezuela, she studied law at the University of Salamanca, and has a master's degree in documentary and transmedia reporting. She participated in the creation of the RTVE Innovation Lab's socials from scratch, creating viral content and giving the labs's interactive projects a second life in social media. She has directed the docu-tiktok and transmedia project 'Lab Orquesta' and 'La última bola' (a documentary about the sport pétanque and its way to the olympic games).

The Jury: This project stands out not only for its fresh, future-forward approach but also for its deep understanding of our culture and the essence of human interactions. It playfully embraces the world of AI while thoughtfully addressing our collective anxieties about technological progress. Innovative yet full of heart, it makes us laugh and offers something rare in the digital world — a genuine collective experience. It also serves as a reminder to creators that you don't need limitless resources to produce something cutting-edge — a great project begins with a clear idea.
